Elzire's Acre Goat Milk Soap
Hello! We are Elzire’s Acre Goat Milk Soap…
…located on a mini farm in Princeton. We’ve been animal lovers all our lives, and have had horses for 40+ years, along with goats, dogs, cats, horse, layer and meat chickens, and rabbits. We’ve lived in the Wachusett Region since 1986, and in the Princeton area since 1993, we’ve raised two children, Sarah and Adam. We love living minutes from Wachusett Mountain, hiking year round with our dogs.
Our Goat Milk
In our quest for a healthier, more natural existence, we are feeding our goats organic or non GMO, pesticide free whole grains, seeds, herbs, hay and forage.
We drink our milk and make cheese and kefir for family and animals. In making small batches of soap from our goat’s milk, rich in natural fat, proteins, vitamins, minerals, and live enzymes that our goats give us, we feel that our soap is a very high quality, natural soap that is good for your skin.
Ingredients we use
We use only food grade lye in making our soap, in- stead of home or industrial lye which can contain toxic heavy metals.
The lard used in some of our soap is hand rendered by us, and sourced from a local farm, so there are no added chemical preservatives.
Honey that is used in some of our recipes is local if possible, or at least sourced from within the New England area.
We use Natural and Organic Oils and Butters, much of which we also cook with!
Many other natural and organic ingredients like Boswellia (and many other) Resins, Clays, Herbs, Mushrooms and more!
Your soap is wrapped in Biolefin!
100% Biodegradable Food-Safe Film!
Better for you, better for your soap, better for the environment.
We’ve decided to use only Essential Oils for fragrance in our goat milk soap. Though this limits the fragrance of the soaps, we feel strongly that our soaps should be all natural to cut back on the pos- sibilities of allergic reactions, though, even with essential oils or any use of a new product, you should always do a spot skin test to see how your body reacts.
Pregnant or nursing moms should always consult their doctor! Also not for cats!!
So, just what’s in a name?
Many people have asked us, “Elzire? Where did THAT name come from, and how do you pronounce it?”
Well, the pronunciation, depending on your nationality, is either el-ZEER, or el-zi- RAY. That’s the easy part.
It came from Terri’s great great aunt, Elzire Roy, who was born January 31,1871 and lived in North Uxbridge. She ran away from home at 19 years of age to become one of the founding mother’s of the Little Franciscan’s of Mary, which started in Worcester, MA, and split to include Baie- Saint-Paul, Quebec.
She died at a young age, in Baie-Saint-Paul, in December 1898, much beloved by her novices and companion Foundresses. Mother Marie-Therese-de- Jesus’ story, passed down through our family, also in the book, “By This Sign, You Will Live”, copyright 1964 by The Little Franciscans of Mary, has been an inspiration in our journey through life. Using Elzire’s name, is a small memorial to a life well lived that should not be forgotten.
“It is necessary, my child, that you find this repose of soul of which I speak, which consists of maintaining peace and serenity on all occasions, even the most aggravating. Resign yourself to patience in all things…”
— Letter to one of her novices, By This Sign, You Will Live.
