The Food Project provides locally grown, freshly picked produce for purchase through our 20-week CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) share program. You can partner with us and support our farmers by purchasing a CSA share in advance of the harvest. Pickup options available in Lincoln, Lynn, and Wenham. All of The Food Project’s vegetables, herbs, berries, and flowers are grown using sustainable growing methods without chemical fertilizers or pesticides. Much of this produce typically is grown and harvested by youth in our summer Seed Crew and Root Crew.
SNAP Benefits
We are pleased to be able to accept SNAP benefits as a payment option for our CSA farm shares. This payment option allows us to expand access to our weekly shares of farm-fresh produce for our customers. For every dollar in SNAP benefits you spend on your CSA share, you’ll get an extra $1 in your SNAP account (up to $80 per month depending on household size). To purchase a CSA using SNAP benefits, please email csa@thefoodproject.org.
Covid-19 Considerations
Every day brings a new set of guidelines and restrictions to plan for as COVID-19 reshapes the world around us. We are actively brainstorming how best to get our produce to our customers safely and efficiently. What we can say definitively is that we will have a CSA; we plan to deliver on our promise to provide our customers with high quality, locally-grown produce. Our farmers are committed to providing you and your family with safe, clean, fresh food. We feel that the current state of the world only exaggerates the needs we already seek to fill, and we are more excited than ever about the opportunity to feed you in this chaotic, uncertain time. From our farm to your kitchen, you can count on us.
We have instituted new food and worker safety procedures, in accordance with the most up-to-date recommendations from the CDC and public health authorities. Simultaneously, we are developing contingency plans for growing and distribution, in case social distancing restrictions continue to be necessary during the summer months. We do not currently have answers regarding the specifics of CSA pickups and likely will not have a finalized plan until late May. Some options currently in consideration are setting up handwashing stations, pre-bagging individual portions of produce, packing entire boxes, and/or asking customers to sign up for a specific pick-up time slot. We appreciate your patience as we navigate the latest recommendations for disease prevention. Rest assured that we are doing our best to keep you nourished, safe, and healthy. If you have any specific CSA pickup questions or requests, please contact csa@thefoodproject.org.
